NEUROFEEDBACK

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG Biofeedback, is part of a science-based therapy that supports the healing of the mind by regulating the brain. Neurofeedback is the underlying concept (idea, principle) of using information derived from the brain for the purpose of brain reprogramming.

It is not pervasive yet or better known, probably because the pharmaceutical industry holds the market on medication interventions, and because of the level of sophistication that requires from the therapists in terms of neurobiology and in terms of technology. On top of that, NFB equipment is expensive, so many clinicians shy away from using it. Nonetheless, there is a growing body of research showing neurofeedback efficacy in treating all sorts of disorders based on the brain --and nervous system-- dysregulation. In fact, The American Academy of Pediatrics has determined that NFB is a level two evidenced-based practice in the treatment of ADHD.

NFB has been around since the 1960s and has been gaining traction as a mainstream intervention, thanks to the amazing results reported by the clients that have had the fortune to engage in this treatment.
